What game is it today?
Four daily puzzles about video games. The puzzle is the same for everyone, guesses are unlimited, progress is kept until midnight.
What is SwanGamedle
SwanGamedle is a daily video game puzzle in the spirit of Wordle: every midnight a new game is picked, and you have to guess it from the clues — genre, release year, platforms, studio, critic scores and age rating.
Besides Classic there are three more modes: comparing games by Metacritic score, budget and sales in More or Less, a Venn diagram puzzle in Overlaps, and guessing industry figures in People. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs right in the browser.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play SwanGamedle?
Pick a mode and type a game title. The guess card shows how close your pick is: matches light up green, and the ▲▼ arrow tells whether the hidden value is higher or lower. Then narrow it down.
When does a new puzzle appear?
Every midnight in your own time zone. The puzzle is the same for every player, so you can race your friends to the answer.
How many guesses do I get?
Classic and People give unlimited guesses — but the fewer you use, the better the result. More or Less is a chain of ten rounds, and the endless sub-mode gives three lives.
Do I need an account, and is progress saved?
There is no sign-up. Statistics, win streaks and your played list live only in your browser and are never sent anywhere. To move progress to another device, download the file in your profile and load it there.
Where do the scores and game data come from?
The database is compiled and checked by hand: over a thousand games since 1972. Critic scores come from Metacritic, the age rating from PEGI, sales from publisher reports. More on the About page.
